NATO Raids Pale

They raided the Karadzic house and interrogated Sasha and Sonja...

And Karadzic supporter Radomir Kojic's house.

Good to see NATO pressing the Karadzic family, who remain the center of the Karadzic support network. The fact of the raid shows NATO in Bosnia still has a pulse and is still on the PIFWC mission. No word yet on how productive they were.

It seems that there has been more pressure put on NATO/EUFOR to act with regard to Karadžić in BiH as the EU (Belgium not included) prepares to essentially give up on Mladić.

Also, there are rumors that a box was found containing recent letters sent from Radovan himself to his children...

They raided the homes of his children?! Seems NATO has run out of leads. I doubt Karadzic will lose much sleep.

I am inviting you to comment on the latest international judgment in which Srebrenica genocide was re-affirmed as Genocide and in which Serbia was ruled to be guilty of not preventing Genocide,

Close, But No Karadzic; Accused War Criminal Still at Large

March 01, 2007 10:55 AM
Brian Ross and Joseph Rhee Report:

A reported sighting in Panama of one of the most wanted men in the world, accused war criminal Radovan Karadzic, the former Serb political leader, led to a four-nation police scramble and a raid on the homes of his son and daughter last week by NATO troops in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

In the end, it produced nothing more than another frustration for the authorities who have been seeking Karadzic since 1995 on war crimes charges involving the murders and rapes of thousands of Muslim civilians and the shelling of the city of Sarajevo.

There is intense pressure to capture Karadzic, who could escape prosecution if he is not in custody by the time the war crimes tribunal expires in 2010.

"That would absolutely be a disaster for justice," said Carla Del Ponte, the war crimes tribunal prosecutor in the Hague in the Netherlands.

Law enforcement authorities tell ABC News the international scramble began last week when an American, who had been in Bosnia during the war, reported seeing a man he thought was Karadzic in the lobby of a hotel in Panama City, Panama.

At the request of the FBI representative in Panama, the man was taken in for questioning by Panamanian authorities.

The man reportedly told authorities he was an honest businessman from Serbia living in South Toronto, Canada with landed immigrant status.

But authorities suspected he might have had plastic surgery, and at one point Canadian authorities reported they were "95 percent certain it was Karadzic," based on a comparison with an old photo.

On Feb. 19, authorities then asked NATO troops to raid the homes of
Karadzic's son and daughter in Bosnia-Herzegovina to obtain a toothbrush or other items that might provide DNA samples.

But this week law enforcement authorities told ABC News that police in Canada had concluded the man was not Karadzic.

Prosecutor Del Ponte told ABC News it was just the latest in a series of false alarms. She believes he continues to hide in Serbia.

"All the information we have with my tracking team and with intelligence services is that Karadzic is there and really I cannot find a reason why he would quit the region," Del Ponte told ABC News.

The United States has offered a $5 million reward for the capture of Karadzic, but the prosecutor says she is concerned U.S. diplomats are not doing all they can to pressure Serbia to find him.

"I would like to have more presence from the United States on this issue," she said.

A State Department spokesperson told ABC News today, "The United States wants to see Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic and all fugitive persons indicted for war crimes transferred to The Hague as soon as possible."

Why is NATO going after Karadzic/Mladic? They were the first to recognise the Islamic fundamentalist threat well before September 11. They may well be called upon for future conflicts.

Thank you for this blog, only problem is that “western forces” who are involved in this operation “finding karadzic” are not motivated like amerikans in Iraq or others while they look for Osama Bin Laden .
Good luck on you work, and I will continue reading this blog.
Also let me know if you need any help.

The big PIFWC craze of the previous months has subsided! Without giving away too much, reasons may be multi-fold:

1. They are dead: Possible but unlikely! (Mladic might be!)

2. They have left the Balkans: Possible and very likely!

3. They are covered by "old pals": Possible but not very likely after 12 years.

4. They are withheld by a professional and comercial Network of "Security": Possible and in Karadzic's case quite likely.

5. They are in the care of the Church: Complete rubbish, especially with Mladic.

6. Karadzic is in Russia: Why would he? How about Belarus and the Ukraine?

7. Mladic is in Serbia: The world is a platter!

8. EUFOR and NATO know where they are: No, because K&M are not in Bosnia and it's not their mission!

9. The ICTY knows exactly where they are: Possible and very likely, however nobody would like to admit the ICTY's Intelligence Gathering Capabilities. Therefore CDP initiatives remain unheard.

10. K&M read this blog: Possible. Quite possible in fact. Does it matter?

Please, don't you think that karadjic is in known of many dirty operations.
So if he is to be captured alive, France,UK, Russia , Greece might find them self in hot waters.
In the best case scenario he-karadjic will be found death .

The serbs may have won the Eurovision Song Contest, but they have far from won the hearts of the free world. In fact it would be true to say that they are held in considerable distaste by many countries for harbouring Karadzic and his henchmen and thus giving support to the Rape, Torture and Murder of thousands of Men, Women and little children.

How can Serbia hope to move on into a new millenium while they continue to give support to these filthy killers that they spawned...

SHAME on you Serbia !!!

A message to John: I have been following this blog for two years now. You are the ultimate hypocrite. You never have anything useful to say. You have lots of comments on this blog saying "I hope you guys catch him!" Howevr, now you say "I hope you never catch him." Before, you said, "I'll never visit this blog again." Unfortunately, you have broken this promise too, as you have returned with your latest drunken comments.

In real life, are you a used car salesman???

GOD BLESS THEM BOTH!

John, a lot of the time you express yourself in cryptic comments the ultimate purpose of which seems to be to enable you to avoid accountability for your opinions and judgments.

That may be a useful tactic in the sub-universe of clandestine activity that you suggest you inhabit some of the time. But in the normal world that's real for most of us most of the time it is the more straightforward, less "clever", posters like Balkan Ghost and YakimaGulag for whom you have such little regard who command personal respect. However little or much they know, at least we know where they stand.

There's no arguing, you are pretty offensive. Apologies go just so far but after a while they don't cut the mustard any more. Now you've finally come up with the real goods. "I hope you guys never catch Karadzic and Mladic!" Thanks for that, at last we know where we are with you.

Why should Karadzic be caught when war criminals like Nasar Oric go free? The Hague Tribunal is horribly biased. Also Bosnian Turks must accept that they were not collective victims of the Yugoslav Wars since they too had concentration camps. Have Bosnian Turks apologised for those camps? No and they probably never will because they cannot come to terms with their past.
